To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, we’ve scouted the Internet for all the inspiring campaigns that empowered women over the years and selected 50 that represented various aspects of a woman’s life and the challenges she experiences where men don’t.
Crello presents – Stories Worth All the Hype: 50 Campaigns That Empowered Women. From the Suffragettes to #MeToo, the collection of 50 stories covers campaigns that promoted women’s rights, protested inequality or oppression of women, or helped women become more confident, independent and assertive.
On average, women are paid 25% less than men. In class, girls are called on less and interrupted more. 1 billion women don’t have access to a bank account. Only 16% of women graduate with STEM degrees. Women hold 17.9% of the board seats at Fortune 1000 companies.
But the inequality doesn’t end there. One woman is killed every week at the hands of a current or former partner. 1 in 5 women were married before their 18th birthday. At least 200 million women living today have been subjected to female genital mutilation.
Historically, women have been pushed to the side and written off as weak, shallow, and secondary. This March, we are telling a different story – women are capable, strong, assertive, and brave.
The project aims to highlight the important work that has been done by the campaign activists and supporters, as well as the real change the campaigns brought about to local and global communities.
The piece is divided into four parts that cover different aspects of women’s rights, safety and social value – we have chapters dedicated to women being assertive, capable, strong, and brave.
